Join the Juanes Lab
I am always interested to hear from prospective graduate students and postdocs. As a member of the Juanes lab, you'll be part of the Fisheries, Marine Ecology and Conservation Laboratory shared with Dr. Julia Baum and her students (http://baumlab.weebly.com). We collaborate on discussions, meetings and seminars to provide a stimulating and thought-provoking work and study environment.
If you are interested in joining us, please email juanes at uvic.ca including:
1) Your CV including any and all relevant work experience
2) Your academic transcripts (unofficial is acceptable)
3) A short statement outlining your reasons for pursuing graduate studies
4) Whether or not you have applied for external funding (eg. NSERC)
5) A cover letter outlining why you think you'd be a great fit for the Juanes Lab given our research interests and the outline of a research project that interests you. Please be specific as this will give me an idea of how well our interests align. This may not end up as your project, but it will give me an idea of your research skills and creativity.
Prospective postdocs can contact me directly attaching a copy of your CV.
I receive many more inquiries than I can take on as students. I look for students who have a demonstrated research interest (e.g., past or current related volunteer or work experience) in themes that overlap with my own interests. I try to respond to all incoming inquiries, but sometimes these are delayed. Please do follow up (as this is a sign that you are really interested and keen).
I look forward to hearing from you,
Dr. Francis Juanes
